Happy Saturday, bibliophiles! Today’s post is a fabulous new tag that combines two fabulous things: books and pancakes. Many thanks to Olivia and Kimberly for tagging me!

Let’s get started!
The first book that comes to mind for this prompt is Anna-Marie McLemore’s When the Moon Was Ours. I found the book as a whole to be a bit too slow and confusing for me, but man, does this author know how to write beautifully.
Moxie from The Boy Who Steals Houses is perfect for this one. She’s equal parts fiercely protective of her family and friends, and constantly on her toes, ready to sass one of her six siblings. She has some really fantastic lines, including this gem:
“If something even remotely sexist comes out of you mouth again,’ Moxie says, her eyes glinting, ‘I will take a pound of flesh per word.”
The Penderwicks, 100%. This has been one of my most favorite books since I think first grade, and it’s so comforting to go back to that I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve read it.
Epic Reads defines a book hangover as a “condition in which attachment to a book or series that has ended causes the reader traumatic emotional distress,” so sorry to use C.G. Drews for a second time, but the obvious answer for me is A Thousand Perfect Notes. I think I sobbed for like half an hour after I finished reading it, no joke.
If we’re talking about feels then we have to talk about To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Not only does this trilogy have a swoon-worthy romance, it also has really sweet family dynamics, so it’s a win-win!
I think that Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows really embodies this prompt—he definitely has a sharp demeanor, but he’s easy to sympathize with once you get to know him and his backstory.
The Westing Game is certainly a book that kept me guessing—I’m pretty sure I had no idea how it was going to end, which made it hard to put down!
This immediately makes me think of Flashback from the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, but I can’t really talk about it without getting spoilery, so don’t click below if you don’t want to find out what happens!

Okay, so basically I’ve been a Team Foster-Keefe shipper from the beginning because Keefe is the absolute sweetest, but since reading the most recent installment, I think I have to concede that Fitzphie is also an adorable pairing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For the record, I for one like peanut butter very much (I did not make these graphics), but taste buds aside, I’m gonna have to go with Umbridge for this one (from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). There are a lot of repulsive characters in Harry Potter, but Umbridge just stands out.
There are a bunch of books I could pick for this one, but the first that comes to mind is Roshani Chokshi’s The Gilded Wolves. Not only is it fantastically well-written, the novel also has a wonderful group cast with a found family dynamic and lots of diversity, including three biracial main characters (one is French & Algerian, one is Spanish & Filipino, and one is French & Black), an Indian main character, a Jewish main character, a bisexual main character, and another non-straight main character.

I will always love TATBILB SOOOO MUCH. I’m honestly forever searching for a contemporary that gives me all of the happy and pure feels as that one did, and have I found one?? No. I feel like that book set my standards impossibly highhh :/// Oooh I read The Westing Game as a school book and I LOVED IT SO MUCH that I literally binged the entire thing like, two days after. I have so much adoration for the characters and how everything played out!

Yes, it’s so good!! Haha, I guess loving a book can be both a blessing and a curse in that regard. I really liked The Westing Game too! Ahh, I’m so happy you did this! I loved reading all your answers.😍I agree that Umbridge inspires much recoiling. She’s the one villain that has no reason to be evil and just…is, and I think that makes her all the easier to hate. (That’s not to say I don’t hate Voldemort, but at least his past is explained.) I also love The Penderwicks and it’s so comforting! When I think of The Penderwicks, I think of reading it on a rainy summer day under a blanket while eating cookies- I don’t know why, but it’s the most calming thing ever.

Umbridge is a perfect choice for a character that makes you recoil, I kind of wish I had thought of that one, hehe! I also need to desperately read Six of Crows so I understand all the Kaz references I am seeing everywhere – he seems awesome!

I haven’t read anything by McLemore just yet, but all of the author’s books are on my TBR, I can’t wait to discover their beautiful prose! And The Gilded Wolves was a wonderful read, the cast of characters definitely was one of the strongest suits of the book 😀
