Hi bookworms! I hope you’re having a wonderful end of 2018.
As I look forward to the new year, one of many important facts stands out to me: there are SO many books coming out in 2019 that sound ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWINGLY FANTASTIC.
For that reason, I have decided to take the opportunity to make a list of some of the books that I’m most excited about. Maybe you’ll find something to add to your tbr!
Note: all book covers are from Goodreads and are linked to their respective Goodreads pages.
Black Enough | Edited by Ibi Zoboi | January 8th | I am so lucky to have been given an ARC of this anthology about Blackness and America! There are some amazing authors featured, like Jason Reynolds, Rita Williams-Garcia, and loads more. (You can read my review here.)
The Weight of Our Sky | Hanna Alkaf | February 5th | A story about the race riots in Kuala Lumpur, (which I’d never heard of and am super curious to learn more about) plus music and OCD rep!
On the Come Up | Angie Thomas | February 5th | This book could be about anything and I would probably still read it because IT’S ANGIE THOMAS. That said, this book is also about music and it sounds super good.
Comics Will Break Your Heart | Faith Erin Hicks | February 12th | A story about two rival families in the comics world that seems super cute. I’ve read some of the author’s graphic novels, so I’m curious to see what her first novel is like!
Internment | Samira Ahmed | March 19th | This is a near-future dystopia set in a Musim-American internment camp, and wow, it sounds like it’s going to be amazing.
A Place for Wolves | Kosoko Jackson | April 2nd | This book was pitched as Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe meets Code Name Verity and honestly, that’s all I need to know.
The Boy Who Steals Houses | C.G. Drews | April 4th | It’s Cait aka Paper Fury! This is about brothers and it has #OwnVoices autism rep. Gosh I am so excited for Cait’s second book, especially since I absolutely LOVED her first one, A Thousand Perfect Notes!
With the Fire on High | Elizabeth Acevedo | May 7th | Let’s face it, even if this book wasn’t written by Elizabeth Acevedo, who’s absolutely amazing, I would still have to feature With the Fire on High on this list book because its cover is so ridiculously beautiful.
There’s Something About Sweetie | Sandhya Menon | May 14th | This is a spin-off about the younger brother from When Dimple Met Rishi and I’m SO EXCITED.
Going Off-Script | Jen Wilde | May 21st | The amazing Jen Wilde!! With a story about a tv writing intern battling straight-washing!! What an amazing premise.
What are your most anticipated reads for the upcoming year? Squeal with me in the comments! Also feel free to check out my 2019 releases shelf on Goodreads if you want to learn about a bunch of amazing-sounding books and then feel sad because they haven’t been released yet.
♥ Annie

This post got me so excited for all 2019 holds, book-wise! 🙂 Thanks for compiling this list, Annie. I’m also looking forward to reading The Boy Who Steals Houses, because like you, I adored ATPN. I hadn’t heard about There’s Something About Sweetie, but now I’m so excited! I really loved When Dimple Met Rishi.
