Top 11 Bookish Ships

Cue Star Wars music

Dun dun dun, dun, du-dun, dun, du-dun

Enter Imperial Star Destroyer

Haha, not that kind of ship. I can’t even believe how funny I am. Seriously though, today’s post IS about ships—the favorite fictional couples kind. If there’s one thing most people in the YA online community love, it’s screaming about our favorite OTPs.

I think this is the perfect opportunity for me to do just that, as I was tagged by Anna @ Dole Whip and Books (Thank you Anna! And sorry this is so late ahahah.) for the Soul-Ripping Romance Tag (originally created by Nel @ Reactionary Tales), which is all about ships that make your heart turn into mush. And for that reason, I present to you eleven of my favorite bookish ships! (I was gonna just do five, and then I was gonna just do ten, but it was too hard to narrow it down lol.)

Top 11 Bookish Ships

Luna & Neville (Harry Potter series)

These are two of my all-time favorite Harry Potter characters (it’s them and Hermione) and they’re both the sweetest little cinnamon rolls. I recently re-watched Deathly Hallows pt. 2 and this line from Neville basically made my heart melt:

(Possible minor HP spoilers below?)

∨∨∨

You haven’t seen Luna have you? I’m mad for her. I think it’s about time I told her, since we’ll probably both be dead by dawn!

From what I’ve read online, it doesn’t sound like they end up together (here’s an article if you’re interested), and I think J.K. Rowling’s reasoning makes a lot of sense, but I do think they’re adorable and love them to bits.

Lara Jean & Peter K. (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy)

These characters are so adorable, especially in the third book. Highly recommend the book series and the movie!

(You can read more of my undying love for this series in the whole post I wrote about it.)

Nick & Charlie (Heartstopper, and various other works by Alice Oseman)

Nick and Charlie originally appeared in Alice Oseman’s novel Solitaire, and they also have their own novella called Nick and Charlie—both of these are very high on my tbr! I know these two from Oseman’s webcomic Heartstoppersoon to be a graphic novel, which is about how they met and fell in love (It’s set before the events of Solitaire.) They are ridiculously cute! And shoutout to all the drawings Oseman posts of her characters on Instagram because they’re all amazing.

Sophie & Keefe (Keeper of the Lost Cities series)

Okay so these kids are from one of my favorite series of all time, and there’s a love triangle, and I don’t know how it ends because the next book comes out in November (!!!) but I am really rooting for this pairing. Although in hindsight, I think that perhaps I just love Keefe so much and I’m projecting that onto Sophie, lol. I’m not entirely convinced they’ll end up as a couple, but we’ll see!

(I made an aesthetic for this ship for this post if you wanna see it.)

Simon & Blue (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda)

I would be remiss if I wrote a post about OTPs and I didn’t mention this iconic YA duo who also happen to be one of my favorite ships ever. THE BOOK DID IT BETTER, just saying.

(Mini review of Simon vs. can be found here!)

Vi & Cece (The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls)

Of the four Garrett sisters in Jessica Spotswood’s The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls (review here), Vi is my favorite, and her romantic pairing made my heart radiate pure joy.

Katniss & Peeta (The Hunger Games trilogy)

Possibly my first ever OTP? I have always been on Team Peeta, since the very first time I read The Hunger Games in fifth grade. And I read the series MANY more times after that.

(Sorry Gale, I feel bad for you but Peeta is too sweet.)

Anne & Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables)

Okay I take it back, I think Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe may be the first people I ever shipped. Anne of Green Gables is a childhood favorite of mine, and I really like the Netflix show too! (I really need to catch up on it though…)

Wylan & Jesper (Six of Crows duology)

Omg the banter between these two is the most adorable thing! I love all the SoC characters so much.

Kaz & Inej (Six of Crows duology)

Speaking of SoC…Kaz and Inej are also very very cute! Ahhh I really need to read Crooked Kingdom.

Cress & Thorne (Lunar Chronicles series)

There are a lot of cute couples in this series, but I always found Cress and Thorne especially adorable. The whole part in the desert was so romantic… ❤

Ok, now that the intense Fangirl-ish part of this comment is over, I can actually type like a normal person. 😂 I would have to say that my favorite ship on this list is either Neville and Luna or Peeta and Katniss. (My Dad and sister like Gale better like what the heck?! Peeta is perfect for Katniss!) And of course everyone loves Peter and Lara Jean ❤️ I’ve watched the movie and read the first book, and the I will have to find the sequels at my library. Great post! 👍🏻

  4. I AM LIVING FOR THIS POST, ANNIE.
Luna and Neville are the sweetest! It made me so sad that they aren’t actually “together,” but in my head they are, okay? Okay. 😉 THAT LINE OF NEVILLE’S MAKES ME WEEP. I remember screaming when he said it.
Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky are just goals?! I already loved them from the books, but I feel like the movie made me fall in love with their love even more.
Simon and Blue…I’M SCREAMING. (Also, I love how even though most people have read it they still say Blue out of respect to those who haven’t yet. It didn’t even get spoiled for me ahead of time! And now he’s just always going to be Blue to me, and not his real name. XD) They’re so adorable, I just can’t.
VI AND CECE I LOVE THEM. I just reread The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls and they were so pure and innocent and ahhh, just perfect.
Yay, Team Peeta!🙌🏼Katniss and Peeta’s relationship caused me to shed many tears (I literally sobbed during Mockingjay), but I’m so happy it ended the way it did.
Okay, the ultimate OTP is Anne and Gilbert, to be honest. Can anyone top “carrots”? Or the fact that there is an entire series written about them and their married life with kids is included and you get to see their engagement and wedding and why can’t every series give us a happy ending like that?! I LOVE THE BLYTHES. I love the Netflix show too! I still haven’t watched the second season, though.

I’m so sorry for this long comment, but I have so many feels about this list. I LOVED IT DEARLY. Also, the only couple I would add on here I think is Percabeth. I love them so much.

    1. OMG THEY ARE ALL SO ADORABLE I’M SO GLAD YOU LOVE THEM TOO. It’s the same for me, I always think of him as Blue even though I know his true identity. Ah yes another Peeta supporter! And yes, Anne and Gilbert’s carrots scene is amazing. I’ve only watched the first episode of the second season, so I really need to continue with it!

Thank you so much for your comment Olivia!! Aw yes I love Percabeth too!
