You know that feeling when you love an author so much you feel like you’re going to die if you have to wait any longer for their next book to come out? And you also know that feeling when one of your favorite authors has had a book out for like a bajillion years and for some reason, you STILL haven’t read it? Yup, today we’re talking about ten books my some of my favorite authors that I haven’t read.
I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday for this post, which is a weekly meme run by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl!
Note: All book covers link to their respective Goodreads pages, and all covers are from Goodreads.
1. The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde
Backstory: Jen Wilde’s debut, Queens of Geek, was one of my favorite books of 2017, and this one sounds just as adorable!
Why I haven’t read it: Honestly…I don’t even know. I’ve really gotta get on this one.
2. Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds
Backstory: I’ve read and loved so many of Jason Reynolds’s books!
Why I haven’t read it: I checked it out of the library but didn’t get to read it before it was due back…sigh.
3. Solitaire & 4. I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman
Backstory: I loved Alice Oseman’s work that I’ve read so far, which includes her second novel, Radio Silence, and her web comic, Heartstopper—both favorites of 2018 for me.
Why I haven’t read them:
I only recently became an Alice Oseman fan after discovering Heartstopper this summer. I can’t wait to read both of these though!
5. Renegades & 6. Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Backstory: Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles series is an all-time favorite of mine, and both of these more recent books were very high on my tbr when I fist found out about them.
Why I haven’t read them: When these books first released, it sounded from the reviews I read that neither of them lived up to the hype for a lot of people. I will probably give at least one of them a try eventually, but I’m a little nervous that I won’t like these as much as The Lunar Chronicles.
7. So many Rick Riordan books
Backstory: Rick Riordan is a legend and I absolutely love him!
Why I haven’t read them: I went through a brief period in middle school where I got a little tired of Riordan’s books (I KNOW HOW COULD I) and I’m still catching up. I’ve got four Riordan books left that I haven’t read: The Dark Prophecy, The Hammer of Thor, The Ship of the Dead, and The Burning Maze.
8. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
Backstory: I’m a huge Harry Potter fan (obviously).
Why I haven’t read it: This is an adult book, and I’m just not really interested in reading it, at least not for the time being.
9. Let the Storm Break (Sky Fall #2) by Shannon Messenger
Backstory: Shannon Messenger wrote one of my FAVORITE middle grade series, Keeper of the Lost Cities.
Why I haven’t read it: I was so excited to read the first book in Messenger’s YA series, Let the Sky Fall, but…I really didn’t like it. So I don’t actually know if this still one of my favorite authors? Ugh, it was so disappointing.
10. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Backstory: Like so many others in the YA community, I adored Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series!
Why I haven’t read it: Honestly, this just sounds like something I would not enjoy and I have zero interest in reading it.
Who are some of your favorite authors? Do you feel like you have to like all of an author’s books to count them as a favorite? Have you read any of the books/authors on my list? I’d love to chat with you in the comments!
