Top 10 Movies & TV Shows I’ve Watched This Year So Far

Top 10 Movies & TV Shows I've Watched This Year So Far

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s TTT prompt is about TV and movies, so I figured I’d take a little break from talking about books and bullet journaling to recap some of my favorite things I’ve watched so far this year.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme run by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Please note that these are in no particular order—just choosing ten was hard enough without ranking them haha.

1. Sing Street

Sing Street, a movie about a kid in the 80’s who forms a band to impress a girl, is beautiful and surprisingly funny. It’s really atmospheric and I loved the music! Definitely one of my favorite movies now.

2. Love, Simon

The book was better of course, (you can read my review here!) and I was not a huge fan of the ending of this movie, but Love, Simon was still ADORABLE and gave me all the feels.

3. Black Panther

This movie is amazing! My favorite Marvel movie and one of my all-around favorite movies.

4. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Another Marvel movie! I love this story, and Peter Parker is such an adorable little superhero. (Side note: does anyone else think it’s weird that he’s supposed to be 15 though? Because he does NOT look 15.)

5. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

I LOVED this adaptation. It’s so cute omg! (I also have a post about the books they’re based on here!)

Also honorable mention to all of the Harry Potter movies! I didn’t watch them for the first time this year, but between my family’s summer re-watch of them and the Back to Hogwarts marathon on TV right now, I could probably recite the entire series.

1. Skam

A friend recommended this Norwegian drama to me and I really like it! I’ve never watched a show in another language before and it’s been really cool. I’m almost done with the fourth season which makes me sad because this is the final season. 😦

If you’re interested, you can watch the English-subtitled version for free here!

2. Jane the Virgin

I watched the first season of this show in just a few days at the end of last school year (really fast for me since it usually takes me a while to watch shows). I haven’t watched it in a while but I really like it—the concept is funny and all the drama and plot twists are very entertaining.

3. The Office

I am slowly making my way through the fifth season of this show…it’s hilarious and maybe my favorite show ever but like I said earlier, I am not a very fast tv-watcher. I started this way before this year but I couldn’t not include it on this list since I love it so much!

4. The Flash

I am so excited for season five to air in October! This show is so fun and I love watching it with my siblings.

5. Endeavor

I watched the most recent season of this British detective show with my parents earlier this summer and really enjoyed it!

Tell me about your favorite shows and movies! Do we have any favorites in common? How did you feel about Love, Simon‘s ending? Does it also bother you when a character is supposed to be 15 but is played by an actor who’s 22?

Ah!!! You have such great stuff in this list. 🙂 I loved Love, Simon and TATBILB; they were both such wholesome, important movies and great adaptations of their books. Two of my favorite movies of the year were A Quiet Place, and Searching. What can I say? I love thrillers. 🙂

The Office is great. I make it a point to rewatch it every year. And Skam! Yes, I still haven’t seen the last season but what a great show!

    1. Yay, I’m so glad you loved them too! I haven’t seen either of those, but I am a bit of a chicken when it comes to thrillers/horror movies. Oh I loved the last season of Skam! I actually just finished it a few days ago and the ending was so heartwarming 🙂 Thanks so much for your sweet comment Aimal!

  3. OH yes, Love Simon and To All The Boys are both fantastic adaptations, I feel like they did such a great job with these. I loved them and I smiled all the way while watching ahhhh. ❤ I thought the cast was especially on point for the To All The Boys movie 🙂
And yaaaaaay for Jane! I love Jane The Virgin so, very much, it is one of my favorite shows. I am currently waiting for the new season to release and the wait is unbearable 😂

I adored Love Simon but I’ve not read the book so I wasn’t surprised or annoyed by the ending 😊 such an adorable, wholesome film! And yesssss Spiderman and Black Panther were both fabulous, I’m really looking forward to sequels for them. My parents are really into Endeavour too actually 😂
