February has officially started! It is once again time to reflect on everything that happened in the previous month, so in this post, I’ll be recapping my favorite journal spreads, books, tv shows, movies, blog posts, and songs of January 2018.
January was the last month I spent in my third bullet journal, and I am super excited to be moving on to volume four! (Click here to see the setup of the new notebook and here for my February plan with me.) Nevertheless, I created some cool spreads in the month of January, and here are my favorites:
Weekly spread | I’ve been playing around with this layout from @penpapersoul and I LOVE it.
Habit tracker | It’s kinda hard to see in this photo, but I did a criss-cross design in alternating pastel colors for this month’s habit tracker that I think turned out to be very aesthetically pleasing.
Highlights | Monthly highlights is always one of my favorite spreads to create, and this one was no exception.
January was a PHENOMENAL reading month for me! Maybe it’s because of all the beginning-of-the-year energy, or maybe I just happened to pick up a ton of fabulous books, but I managed to read 12 books in January, most of which were 4-5 stars!!! I’m not gonna talk about all of them, since that would take forever, but here are my favorites:
When Dimple Met Rishi | Sandhya Menon | YA, contemporary, romance | ★★★★☆ | This book is sooo adorable! The characters are the best and I loved reading about Indian-American kids (who we don’t see too often in books unfortunately). And it’s #OwnVoices!
The Way the Light Bends | Cordelia Jensen | YA, contemporary, novel in verse | ★★★★.5 | The Way the Light Bends is such a fabulous book! I was lucky enough to get an arc of this one, and I am so excited to share a very special top-secret post about it on the release date, March 27th! In a nutshell, the book is about an artist named Linc who is struggling to figure out where she belongs. It’s written in beautiful verse, and I loved the relationship between Linc and her adoptive sister, Holly.
Turtles All the Way Down | John Green | YA, contemporary, romance | ★★★★.5 | John Green’s newest book is so amazing and relatable and tackles a ton of stuff about mental illness. Also, I am so here for all the Star Wars references! Read my review here.
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings | Maya Angelou | Memoir | ★★★★☆ | I read this book for English class, and I am so glad it’s part of the curriculum! Books taught in schools are not super interesting a lot of the time, but I really liked I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings!
This Savage Song | Victoria Schwab | YA, fantasy | ★★★★★ | My first (and only, so far) five-star read of 2018! This Savage Song is so dark and engrossing and I love the characters so much!!!
HGTV Dream Home 2018 | Wow, this year’s HGTV Dream Home is spectacular! I love watching HGTV (especially Fixer Upper! Go Joanna and Chip!) and I always love watching the unveiling of the year’s dream home.
Dr. Strange | Dude this movie was so cool. I can’t wait to see Marvel’s Black Panther when it comes out later this month!
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air | I started watching this with my family and it’s absolutely hilarious!
One of my goals for 2018 is to post consistently, and I hope I’m not jinxing it by saying that so far, I’m doing fabulously! Here are all the blog posts I published this month:
I have been obsessed with Bastille’s album Wild World as of late. Other than that, I am still really loving Hamilton and Grace VanderWaal. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this recap! How has your 2018 been so far? Let me know in the comments!
