December ’17 Monthly Recap | What I Journaled, Read, Watched, Posted, and Listened to in December

december 2017 recap_header

Hey! It’s a little late, but I’m here today to recap the month of December. I took a quick blogging break for the holidays, but I’m back in action! I posted twice last week (a bullet journal plan with me and a recap of the books I read in 2017) and I’ve got a bunch of great posts up my sleeve for the rest of January! Anyway, sit back, relax, and enjoy my December recap!

favorite bullet journal

As expected, December was a pretty good bullet journaling month because I didn’t have to go to school for a large portion of the month. Here are a few of my favorite spreads:

1: December cover page | You may remember this Stranger Things-inspired spread from my December plan with me.

2: How to outline a novel | Cait @ Paperfury published this post a few months ago about how she outlines her novels. I loved it, and decided to take some notes in my journal, since one of my goals for 2018 is to try and write a novel! (I’ve never done this before so I’m totally scared, but I’m excited to give it a try!)

3: Babysitting log | I came up with this spread to track my babysitting jobs. I’m not sure how I feel about the header, but the spread has been very useful.

4: Moonlight | I’m a big fan of Grace VanderWaal, and in December I learned how to play her song “Moonlight.” I drew up this page with all the chords and strumming patterns.

december 2017 recap

I’m super happy that I finished seven books in December! I surpassed my goal of 72 books in 2017 by reading 75, which I am thrilled about as well.

Books Read:

1: As Brave as You | Jason Reynolds | middle grade, contemporary | ★★★★☆

2: Black Dove White Raven | Elizabeth Wein | young adult, historical fiction | ★★★★☆

3: Rules of Rain | Leah Scheier | young adult, contemporary | ★★.5 | Read my review here.

4: Nightfall | Shannon Messenger | middle grade, fantasy, adventure | ★★★★.5

5: Milk and Honey | Rupi Kaur | poetry | ★★★★★

6: Friends with Boys | Faith Erin Hicks | young adult, contemporary, graphic novel | ★★★☆☆

7: Love, Hate & Other Filters | Samira Ahmed | young adult, contemporary | ★★★★☆ | My review will be posted next week on the release date! (Update: Read my review here.)

I participated in this challenge and did…okay. I finished on level 2 with 14 points. I think maybe longer challenges like this one just aren’t for me. If I want to read a ton of books for a challenge, it has to be a week or less, like Booktubeathon, otherwise I just forget that I’m even doing a challenge.

New Books:

I got a few books for Christmas…

Some of my favorite movies and shows that I watched in December…

1: The Office | I am slowly making my way through The Office and I love it so much.

2: Death in Paradise | I watch this detective show with my parents and my sister and brother, and it’s good! I love the island vibes.

3: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off | OMG THIS MOVIE IS HILARIOUS. A new favorite for sure.

4: School of Rock | Wow this movie was hilarious too. Kind of ridiculous, but great.

5: Little Miss Sunshine | All the funny movies this month! This one was about a dysfunctional family going on a road trip to a beauty pageant, and it was seriously amazing.
